BP Logix Process Director has been named as a ‘Niche Player’ in the Gartner 'Magic Quadrant for Intelligent Business Process Management Suites (iBPMS)' for the fourth year in a row.

What is the Magic Quadrant?

The Magic Quadrant plots the top BPM providers onto a grid with an X axis for ability to execute and a Y axis for completeness of vision. The grid is divided into four (magic) quadrants - niche players, challengers, visionaries and leaders.

The report reviews the iBPMS market and evaluates the strengths and weaknesses of each vendor, offering critical advice for any organisation considering an iBPMS platform to support digital transformation.

What is an iBPMS?

According to Gartner, an iBPMS is an integrated set of technologies that coordinate people, machines and things. An iBPMS allows "citizen developers" to collaborate on the improvement and transformation of business processes.

Market overview

The growth of the overall BPMS market was modest in 2017. This trend is expected to have accelerated in 2018, partly due to a renewed interest in business process automation technologies, with the market for Robotic Process Automation (RPA) exploding.

Key findings

In the report, analysts reviewed Process Director V4.5 which is available for on-premise and cloud deployments. They found Process Director is designed for a no-code approach to building process-centric applications, using a web browser editor for form design.

Cost effective compared to other vendors

The report found cost was one of the top determining factors when choosing BP Logix. Meanwhile, customers gave above-average ratings for the evaluation, contracting and negotiation stage.

Process Timeline

Gartner singles out Process Timeline as a key strength. Process Timeline uses a Gantt chart to visualise the authoring, execution and monitoring of a process. Triggered by changes in operational intelligence, tasks are dynamically activated and/or (re)assigned with overall process performance continually monitored.

Superior business intelligence with business activity monitoring (BAM) tools

Gartner noted Process Director offers a rich set of BAM tools for process owners, business users and business managers.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML)

The authors concluded by acknowledging that Process Director v5.0, which was not available for analysis by Gartner but has subsequently been released, promised to bring to market advanced real-time and on-demand optimisation features that leverage ML and AI.
